Sweetness

Oh how I wish I had a picture, but alas, I do not. Words will have to do. Just before Jeremiah and John Asher left last night, we gathered the kids around the living room floor for a time of prayer for daddy and especially for John Asher. Jeremiah asked the kids to all lay hands on John Asher as we pray over him and asked who would like to pray for him. It was a precious sight seeing these little kids place their hands on their brother, whom they've only known for three weeks, and now, were sending off to the hospital, a big unknown for these little guys! Gracie opened us up with a sweet little prayer that comes with the love and faith of a seven year old. Madi Beth followed with a few words from her heart and a "God is Great" and then Eli said ME, My turn! "God our Father, God our Father, Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord, For our many blessings, For our many blessings, Awmen, Awmen"! It was all I could do not to giggle cry! As difficult as it has been for him and for his little heart to understand, he does love his little brother and kissed him lots before we left!

Now for the tough news. They made it safely to the hospital and tried to run some tests last night. However, he was uncooperative again. They tried to sedate him and it did not work, so they are going to try again this morning. They need these tests to be done effectively so they can see what is going on and what they need to do before they go in with surgery. If they cannot get good results from the tests, they are going to have to do a heart cath, which is something they do not want to do. Surgery is more than likely going to be tomorrow or Friday, with an outside chance of today, only in an emergency. Last night, while he was on oxygen, his levels were in the 50%. However, Jeremiah just texted me and said his pulse is good and his oxygen is at 71%, that is the best he has seen all night! They are in the CICU at Egleston in Atlanta and Jeremiah is technically not supposed to be in there with him, however the doctor was concerned enough about him that he didn't want Jeremiah to leave his side. God is so good!!! So very good! We know he hears our prayers and answers them!

Obviously, we are dealing with a condition that is serious. But once again, God is good and he allowed this little boy to leave China at the right time to get excellent medical care here in the USA so his life can be full, rich and filled with the glory of God!

God says to hide his word in your heart, and I am claiming a verse I learned as a child at church:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3: 5 – 6

We may not understand why the Lord chose this path for our lives, but we cannot deny the calling he placed. So we are going to trust him with all our hearts, acknowledge his provisions in our lives, his sovereignty and his grace and the healing work he is doing in John Asher and we know he is going to direct our paths.
