They may be small but any improvement is big in our book! John Asher made small improvements all day. He is not off the ventilator yet, but hopefully tomorrow. He is initiating some breaths, but the doctors decided to wait and not pull him off so quickly this time. They just continue to wean him off of it slowly. They thought his numbers (pressure from right ventricle, heart rate, blood pressure and lung capacity) would look worse as they weaned him from the ventilator and medicines, but instead they have slightly improved, which we find to be excellent news! They are going to continue to very slowly wean him off the heart medicine which controls the pressure in the right ventricle. Dr. Kogan says slow and easy. We don't expect him out of CICU until Saturday at the earliest.

My mom, the kids and I are traveling back to Atlanta tomorrow to see our little guy. I sure have missed him and Mom has been sick over the past week, so this will be her first chance to see him since he went into surgery. I don't anticipate us spending the night as the kids have done very well being back at home. Please, along with praying for John Asher's healing, could I also ask you to pray for the other three. Life has really been shaken up for them and with the anticipation of him coming home, I worry behaviors will become out of sorts again. We seem to be getting them back into a groove here at home and it has helped everyone!

Life transitions of any kind are so hard for kids, but this major upheaval for them must be SO hard! I will absolutely be praying for Gracie, Maddie, and Eli! I am really impressed with how well you know your kids and what ALL of their needs are, and how you try to do what is best for ALL of them at any given time! I'm sure that has got to be VERY hard right now, I pray you are feeling God's presence right with you in it all!
Glad to hear they are taking the slow, easy, conservative route to wean John Asher off of everything! I'm praying that gives his body a chance to practice the new normal before being left to go it alone! Poor guy.....I'm also praying attachment picks up right where it off when he wakes up! This all has to be tough when you are in such the early phases of building trust with him!
So thankful with you Robyn. The turtle does indeed win the race sometimes in these situations, and with less trauma at that. Praying that John Asher is also over the hump and is anchored on the path to healing now. I hope your time with him is sweet today and that the kids find the trip an adventure. I know you are all exhausted and am thankful for the balance your are finding for them. Love you gal!
Still praying for him.....
