We got to the hospital at 7:00 this morning. The Lord sent us two precious angels as soon as we got off the elevator. I broke down in tears and told them my son was having surgery and I didn't know where to go. Turns out, they were headed to the Cardiac ICU and took us (me and John and Lou) straight to ICU and right to his room. We didn't have to beg or plead to get in and all they asked was that we scrub before touching him. We were able to spend a few minutes with our baby boy before they took him back to surgery. We had a time of prayer over him and gave him as many kisses as we could. 
The nurses had already put him to sleep before we arrived- he woke up at 5:00am this morning and was upset and wanted a bottle (which he couldn't have) so they went ahead and gave him some sleepy medicine to calm him down. He looked so precious, so peaceful, absolutely beautiful.

He looked so precious, so peaceful, absolutely beautiful.We've gotten an update that they were finally able to resolve the antibody issues with his blood type and surgery got underway around 10:00 this morning. The surgery will take approximately three hours and then another hour or so to stitch him up and prepare him to leave the operating room.
The staff here at Egleston is absolutely wonderful and they have been so gracious to us while we've been here. We have gotten a room at the Ronald McDonald house tonight and will be staying there.
Keep praying for this little guy: the doctors said he has already passed the will to live test! Please especially pray they do not have to cut his valve so that it does not have to be replaced later in life. Pray for no infection, no complications and that our sweet boy will sail through!

I work with Jeremiah's aunt, Ann, and she told me about his adoption a while back. My own son, John Cabell, was diagnosed with a severe heart condition (dilated cardiomyopathy) last summer and we spent 99 days living at Egleston. He received the gift of a new heart on August 26th at the age of eight months old and we are so grateful to the staff at CHOA-Egleston for the great care they took of Cabell while we were there. You all are in GREAT hands (the RMH is fantastic, too). Obviously, "heart babies" are extra special to me and I know that you all have already discovered what miracles they are. As John Asher grows, everything he does will seem like such a miracle- because it is and he is.
