If you don’t know my God you should…

This morning John Asher was supposed to have a heart cath to insert a small pin sized hole in his heart to control the pressure in his heart created by his right ventricle. Last night, John Asher's momma prayed hard that God would do whatever it took in a short time span to convince the doctors that John Asher did not need this heart cath. A whole lot of things had to happen in order for them not to do the heart cath, and it was already on the schedule. But the Lord heard my cries and the cries and prayers from so many of you, many that I do not even know, and today, my son did not need that small pin sized hole placed in his heart. We are not completely out of the woods in that area yet, but I am still believing God that John Asher will continue to improve over night and in the morning, and if so, Dr. Kogan has said that he will not need a heart cath at all! Praise you Lord!!!!!

So, for those of you that want to know the short side of it, John Asher continued to improve all night and all day. All stats that were bad are improving. For those of you that want to know the details, then here they are. John Asher's lungs are beginning to have the ability to handle how much blood is flowing through there. Before, he had a little bitty opening allowing blood to come into the lungs. During surgery the opening was made to be the size it was supposed to be. Then blood began rushing in there. The lungs couldn't handle it because it hadn't needed to before. This was exaggerated by how hard the right ventricle was pumping, because it had always had to pump harder to get blood into the lungs and even after surgery it continued to pump super hard. This caused the fluid and blood to build up in his lungs which led to the vomiting of blood and the low oxygen and difficulty breathing. His right ventricle has started to slack off a little bit, and the pressure it's exerting is slowing down. Thus, there is not the need for the pin sized hole in the heart. His oxygen is staying up and because he has been on the ventilator his body has had a chance to relax. The lungs are becoming more able to tolerate this amount of blood and the heart isn't beating as fast as it was, so, there is less fluid on the lungs and less pressure so there is also less dependency on the ventilator. They are slowly weaning him off the ventilator and we hope to see him completely off of it soon.

Before we left to go to China, we prayed daily that the Lord would heal John Asher's heart without surgery. God chose not to heal it that way. He answered our prayers, just not the way we wanted the prayers answered. Instead, the Lord chose to allow us to walk this road, a road that has involved surgery, suffering and sadness, but it was only to draw us closer to him and have a complete dependency on him. We would like to think we trusted him before this surgery, but this experience has only built our faith and trust even more. We know that we are not in control, and all we can do it turn it all over to the Lord and allow him to do the work in our lives, in our son's life, that he wants to do. If he chooses to work a miracle, we will praise him. If he chooses to not work a miracle, we will STILL praise him! This life is not about us, it is about our Heavenly Father and he is to receive the glory, not us. We have done nothing but follow in obedience to his calling for us to bring this child into our home. And we love him as much as we love the other three that came from us.

I am still believing God that tomorrow John Asher will not need that pin sized hole placed in his heart. Will you join me in praying the same?
