A Smile

We love our nurse Krissy. She has been with our little guy for a few days now and she knows him well. So well she is figuring out that he and morphine don't get along. She is also learning that when he is nauseated he doesn't like to be touched. She knows what his stomach can tolerate and what it cannot. She also likes how loopy he gets when she gives him the versesate (spelling unknown). Nurse Krissy has been the best one we've had, very proactive. She is really thinking ahead about his bowels, about how to handle his nausea and what the next few hours may hold for him. We are so very thankful for her. The only problem we have is that she is a Tennessee VOL fan. Other than that, she's pretty great. The best news of all, is that despite all the setbacks, Krissy managed his medicines well and he smiled for Jeremiah this evening. We got a SMILE! Words cannot do justice to the emotions we felt. Despite all we've put him through, he still loves us and smiled for us. Praise you Lord! So here are our requests for this evening:

• John Asher's heart has learned to work around his defects, now that his heart is repaired and relatively normal, it has to learn to operate like a normal heart. Pray that this can happen.
• Pray for poop. Seriously, this kid needs to have a bowel movement! No joke. He can't come out of CICU until he produces. Sorry to be so blunt, but poop it is!
• His heart rate and blood pressure need to stablize and his oxygen levels need to stay in the very high 90's or the best: 100%!
• For Arthur and Yvonne; they are from Athens and have been to our church through their son's boy scout troop serving speghetti. Their daughter, Rose Marie, is in NICU with serious complications and is facing surgery on Thursday. She also will need heart surgery in the future. Pray for us to be a support to them as well.
• Last, our kids. The other three. Pray that we can balance our time with them as well as with John Asher, properly discipline them as well as love them and listen to their concerns and fears. Balancing this is tougher than I imagined.
