Surgery

Just got off the phone with Jeremiah. We are scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning at 7:30. Prep will begin then, surgery will actually begin around 8:45 or 9:00. It will last five hours and during the surgery he will be on a heart/lung bypass machine. He will be in recovery another 2 - 3 hours. We probably won't see him until 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon. One huge prayer request, other than the obvious that he makes it through surgery with no complications, is that they do not have to remove his valve. If they do not have to remove it, he will not need any further surgeries later in life. If they do, he will need a valve replacement in his 20's or 30's. John Asher's oxygen levels are quite critical. The lowest they have gotten were at 10% last night. Jeremiah and I are so greatful to a great hospital for the amazing care he is receiving but also to the Great Physician, our God, who is the ultimate healer. We know John Asher is in the hands of God, in his care, and we are so very comforted by that. This little guy is also quite the charmer. The nurses have swooned over him as he shows off his sweet, funny personality! We can't wait to see more of that as he begins to feel better after surgery.

• Just a few prayer requests:
• that he makes it through the surgery without complications
• that his valve will not have to be replaced
• that a room at the Ronald McDonald House will come available for us to stay
• for my other three precious children, as they have to adjust to some new normals around here and have their routines interrupted and their parents gone for a few days
• for safety for Leigh Ann and her kids as they are driving down from Indiana today to be here for the surgery
