Alex's first birthday was today and we had a mini celebration in his room! Happy Birthday little Buddy!
Today was another shopping day. Our guide took us to the Liwan Plaza where the Jewelry and Pearl Market are located. We had a pretty good experience and picked up a strand of pearls for each of our girls for their wedding day. Jeremiah is not afraid to walk away and he eventually got a great deal on the pearls. Afterwards, we treated the kids to none other than McDonalds. The funny thing is that we hardly ever go to McDonalds in the states, but here in China, it was a welcomed sight. The kids enjoyed Cheeseburgers, fries and chicken nuggets! Addison, this picture of Grandma and Papa is for you!
After McDonald’s the kids and John and Lou headed back to the hotel via cab and Jeremiah and I decided to walk back. We got to experience shopping in China at its best! On a slow shopping day in China, it felt like two days before Christmas in our malls. This place was so busy and full of people. But it was very interesting too. The picture of the lady washing dishes was just one of many interesting sights we saw.
The rest of the day was taken at a slow pace. I believe John Asher has an ear infection. He has been real fussy, scratching at his ears, green yucky nose and not wanting to lay back in our arms to take his bottle (he wants to sit straight up) were all signs. He didn’t sleep much last night, woke up screaming at 6 am and has cried pretty much the entire day. Jeremiah mixed up the antibiotic we brought and we gave him a dose of that, some Motrin and Ear drops and within an hour, he was a different kid. Smiling and laughing and playing! He is fussy right now, but it is also bed time, our most difficult time of the day. Please pray that we will have the guidance to know what is best for him, that he will get better and stop crying so much so we can actually enjoy him and also for our patience. We, as parents, also need some sleep so that we can have more patience to take care of our kids and not be so short with them. Ok, so me. I need some sleep so I can be more patient with my kids.
Grandparents leave tomorrow to fly to Beijing and then Wednesday morning to fly back to the states. Please pray for a safe trip for them and for us as we are left with all four kids on our own for the very first time!

That Mickey D's looks YUMMY. We never eat there either, but I can see ho wit would be a welcome sight after a week or more without anything remotely American!! :)

Yes, she's OFF.....
We came home on Saturday as planned, and BOY, did it feel good waking up this morning in our HOME. Thank you, God.
Sophie continues to be very comfortable and is only on regular Tylenol for minor discomfort.
As you can see, Sophie has graduated very quickly from the wheel chair to the walker and is moving all over the house. Being mobile again has brought a huge smile to her face. Look at the picture below....She's already giving this mama heart palpitations as she's doing arm presses on her walker, swinging her legs back and forth.
And this is pure Sophie...As she started to use her walker this morning, I told her that if her arms or leg becomes shaky, she needs to just sit for a bit and take a rest. She turned and looked at me with a huge smile and said, 'mom, I'll never rest'.
No sweet child....I believe with all my heart, NOTHING is going to stop you, and I have been so blessed to be chosen to be your mother and watch you 'go' and grow. You are my hero.
With tears in my eyes, and a heart overflowing with gratitude...
God is good!!
