Slow and steady is the name of this game! John Asher is about the same. He hasn't gone backwards and is slowly inching forwards. As difficult as this all is on John Asher and us as a family, we know how very lucky we are in that there is an end to this, we will come home. We've met so many wonderful families who have children facing multiple surgeries or have been at Egleston for much longer than we have. We realize that our suffering is small compared to others. Especially compared to the suffering Jesus experienced when he died for our sins! We could never even begin to compare, his sufferings or even his love for us. It is through our love for the Lord and his great love for us, for John Asher, that we are sustained. Every day I remind myself that he is in control; he is still on his throne!
You are God alone. From before time began, You were on your throne, you are God alone. And right now, in the good times and bad you are one your throne, you are God alone!
When the time comes, there is so much I could write about what this experience has taught us, how we now better understand suffering and suffering for the glory of God. But for now, in a very unique way, I look forward to all the Lord is teaching me and showing me through this experience, even when it is hard.
Specific prayer requests:
- For John Asher's heart rhythm to regulate
- For two of my children that have come down with strep throat and for me, that I don't get it
- For continued safe travels as we, and our parents, drive back and forth from Egleston and home
- That the Lord will continue to heal John Asher's heart. We are so very ready to bring him home!
