I think he is over it. The tubes, the nurses, the hospital – all of it! Today he decided to show us how over it he really is by pulling his chest tube completely out and causing his left lung to collapse. The nurses and doctors came immediately and took him to the procedure room to correct the situation. He is fine now, has a new, smaller chest tube on his side; lung inflated. The excitement from the day has left him a little cranky tonight, understandably so. If he could just understand that in order to get out of here, he must cooperate. But that seems to be an area he is not comfortable with, cooperating. He does NOT want to take his bottles and refuses to allow me to even put it in his mouth. He did take a total of four ounces from Jeremiah yesterday, but that was it. So it looks like IF we are discharged on Monday he will be going home on a feeding tube.
On a good note he is getting stronger every day - evidenced by the pulling out of the chest tube. But he is also rolling over, sitting up and pulling himself up to a sitting position! He is even sitting up and doing some physical therapy.
On a funny note, John Asher has developed a method of avoiding reality. Every time a nurse or doctor walks into the room to his bedside he pulls his blanket up over his face as if to say "If I can't see you, it won't really happen". When they remove the blanket, he gets very mad. I think he is very smart.
Well mommy is on hospital duty and daddy is on home duty for the next two nights. I wonder who will get the most sleep….?

Glad to hear that he is doing so well, it just goes to show prayer works! Jeremiah thanks for the call last night and i'll be back in touch in the next couple of days. Let me know if you need any help with anything around the house.
We will keep you in our prayers to get this little guy home safe and sound.
My son did that. But he was only an infant, so they paralyzed him with some kind of medicine so he could heal properly. It looks as if John Asher is quite a fighter! You may have quite a warrior for Christ to raise!
