See ya later ventilator…

John Asher did great today having the ventilator turned off and breathing on his own, so they removed the breathing tube and he is ventilator free!!! Way to go kid! As I write, Jeremiah is there giving him a bottle of Pedialite to see how his body handles it. If all goes well, he'll get some Pediasure tomorrow! I love seeing this progress, but at the same time, we are very cautious and a little gun shy. This is the point things started going downhill beginning this time last week. Of course we are still praying he pulls through and can come home as quickly as possible, but we both agree that we'll wait as long as possible to make sure he is well!

While Jeremiah is being dad of the year staying at the hospital with John Asher, the kids and I have kept busy. We went to UGA Vet School Open House today and had a blast operating on teddy bears, watching a dog show and seeing all sorts of animals. We picnicked at the beautiful Botanical Gardens and then Gracie had her first tennis practice. Since we didn't think the day was busy enough, I went on to cook my first meal in over a month. I use the term cook lightly, it was a rotisserie chicken from Publix and a bag of cream corn from our freezer that I heated in the pot and I steamed broccoli – I know, I slaved, I shouldn't have. To top it all off, the kids and I dyed eggs for Easter. Seeing as how Easter is just a day away and I've done absolutely nothing for this holiday, I figured it was about time. We had a blast and Eli was hilarious, he was very meticulous in how long his eggs sat in the dye and which colors he chose. Tomorrow is an Easter Egg Hunt and picnic with our friends and daddy is supposed to be coming home to be with us for Easter. Don't worry, John Asher won't be alone, Grandma and Papa will be there with him and we'll make sure he sees his Easter basket!

Hi Robyn,

This is Kelly, mom of Nathan who is also in the hospital. Thanks so much for praying for our little guy. I can't believe you are going through something similar. I will keep John Asher in my prayers too! What a blessing that he is now off the ventilator. I pray that he is able to eat on his own and this is a step towards going home.

Oh, and I haven't cooked in a month either. It will feel weird to be able to make meals again. :)

Blessings,
Kelly

Thanks for Visiting!
