Celebrating Gracie's Birthday at Stone Mountain

For Gracie's sixth birthday, which will be tomorrow, she chose to go to Stone Mountain for a day instead of having a birthday party. So on Saturday we packed up, even with Hurricane Fay's threatening bands of rain and headed to the park.

A few months back we were there with some friends and she saw the park building a new attraction called the Sky Hike. She has talked about it ever since and has wanted to do this. This was one brave little girl! She completed all three levels with her dad and then she and I did two levels. I have never had a fear of heights, but this put some fear in me! At the highest, you are four stories above the ground and tethered in by a single strap from your harness to a rail above your head. While up there you complete a ropes course that is rather challenging at times. We were so proud of her.

She and her dad also complete two rock climbing walls, one for smaller children and one for much bigger kids. This is one adventurous little, opps, big girl!!

Madilyn did a smaller ropes course at Camp Highland and she loved every minute of it. Her most favorite thing to do was the zip line. She has requested one for Christmas.

Even Eli got in on the action, playing with some ropes!

Later that night we watched the laser show with my sister and her family and my mom. It was so good as usual with a great finale full of patriotic music and fireworks. Eli fell asleep just as "The Devil went Down to Georgia" and didn't wake up until I tried to stand up at the very end. It was a wonderful family time day. Tomorrow she turns six and we will celebrate here at home with cake and presents. I can't believe my first born is turning six! My goodness, time just flies by.
