Buried under paper

Just when I thought I had completed gathering all of my paperwork, I learned that my physicals will expire before they reach the Houston consulate. Houston requires the date of your physical be no less than six months old, and we aren't going to make that deadline. So this morning I will be rescheduling our physicals. Our doctor is going to be sick of us by the end of all this, all though she has been quite gracious in handling all our paperwork. Rumors are flying all over the adoption world websites about the wait time and why it is taking so long. It looks like our wait time (according to the current timetable) will be around 12 -14 months, meaning if our dossier reaches China in August of 2006 we are looking at October or November of 2007 when we get our referral. We've also applied for the waiting child program. For us this would mean a child with minor medical conditions. We chose medical issues that can be corrected. With such young children in our home we did not want to take on medical conditions that would require extensive attention. CCAI will send us information on waiting children and if a child touches our heart we can petition to adopt that child. This is something Jeremiah and I have discussed all along, even before we learned of the extensive wait. We did not choose the waiting child program because it could possibly shorten our wait time, we chose it because we know that while we will love any child God brings into our home, often these waiting children are overlooked and we feel that we can provide them with medical attention and lots and lots of love. Please pray with us that we will wait patiently for the child God brings into our home to be a part of our family!
