More than I could handle

You know the old saying, God never gives you more than you can handle. It is better told God never gives you more than HE can handle. This was never more true than yesterday! We left yesterday for vacation in the beautiful state of Colorado. However, just hours before we were to leave our house, my husband got sick. He took some pretty strong medicine and I thought he would be ok. However, as soon as we arrived at the airport Madilyn told me she was sick. We arrived in plenty of time to check in and make our flight, but with my husband and my daughter now sick we spent more time shuttling back and forth to the bathroom than we did checking in. After an hour of checking our luggage in, we were in a mad dash to security. While removing our shoes we got a call from my mom who had just dropped us off at the airport an hour earlier saying she had a flat tire in the van. I had no idea what to do and began questioning if we should even get on that plane! However, we were committed. I had to ask my mom to ask complete strangers to help her change the tire so she could get to my sister's house. With ten minutes to get to the plane we were running through the airport. Once on the plane our seats were split up, so Jeremiah and Madilyn sat together and I had Eli and Gracie. The flight took off and so did the madness. Between Madilyn being sick the entire flight, Jeremiah and Madilyn both passing out, and complete strangers holding my son while I took care of everyone else I thought I was never going to make it. We finally landed and my family greeted us at the airport. Two days later we are feeling better and on the mend, but still regaining our strength. Everything was out of my control that day and it was definitely more than I could handle. But it was not more than God could handle. He was in complete control and I had no choice but to rely on him. I think that is the key that so many who don't know God can't understand. We are never in control of our lives, but when we believe in God and his Son the Lord Jesus, we know we can trust him for our lives and he will provide us with what we need when we need it, even extra motion sickness bags! I could not have made it through Friday by myself, and even though there were times I felt very alone, I know I never was. God never gave me more than HE could handle, he was in complete control! Praise God!
